Electric etcher question.

This is one I just built for someone. Dual voltage, with AC and DC. The dual Voltage helps not burning up stencils so much.

Hey Shank, all that tips that were offered were very good.

I have one more to add.

I made a small hardwood stick ( ~ 1/4" x 1/4" x 6" L. ).
On each end I ground a taper, One end a flat ground taper, the other a more convex shaped taper. Grind only one side like a chisel ground knife blade

Whatever tape you use, after its on, use the stick to burnish down the edges that contact the stencil and knife blade (use the more rounded end for this)
Pay x-tra close attention to the places where the tape overlaps. Use the flat tapered end of your stick to push the tape down to close up any and all areas that might allow current to bleed through.

From the pic you posted of your knife ( nice one BTW 2thumbs ) it looks to me like that may be what happened, current bleed through.

:)
