GIB Going Horizontal

I upgraded my stand for my GIB and set it up for vertical or horizontal use. I was fortunate and was able to get the stand from a piece of equipment we were scrapping out at the plant and added mounting plates and stops. I used 1" pillow block bearings and rod I bought on Amazon. My next step will be to purchase small wheel attachments and build a work rest for horizontal operation. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the compliments fellows.

PT Doc, I used 1" cold rolled rod. I have not noticed any flex, it seams to be pretty solid.

Just order my small wheel holder and belt guide, along with a 1" and 2" contact wheel from Boss Dog. I hope to get them early next week, so I can them mounted to a tool arm.
I might try to pick up materials for the work rest this week and work on that this weekend. My new mill I got a few weeks back is really coming in handy for these projects.

What kind of mill?

What's the distance between the outer pillow blocks? Sorry for all the questions.

Anybody have some pics of a KMG that converts to a horizontal? Would really like to see if you do!

Very nice mill. The quality is reported to be excellent. Looking forward to some updates on the mill.

I checked today and it is 15 inches between the pillow blocks.

So far I'm really happy with the mill. I don't think you'll be disappointed, if you decided to buy one.

I have been looking at the precision Matthews offerings and that is the way I will go when the time is right.
