Guardless hunter w/ Madagascar Rosewood...

This was commissioned as an outdoor utility knife that could also be used for hunting. This is a bit larger than my typical hunters but the longer blade probably lends itself a bit better for the other utility chores. I made this one tough as nails (tougher actually, as I peeled strips of nails and cut a few in half with it ;) ) with a stouter than normal edge geometry as it may see some rough use. You can choke up nicely all the way to the heel of the blade and still retain good grip and control with the added traction from the collars. The rounded spine ensures no hotspots when putting pressure down on the spine of the knife with the thumb.

Specs:
Hand forged from 1084 steel and differentially hardened
9 1/4" overall, 5" blade, .220" thick at the ricasso with full distal taper
Rounded spine and ricasso edge
416 Stainless steel collars
Blued and coined spacer
Madagascar Rosewood handle
Stainless steel checkered finial nut

I love a good drop point and this is one of the best I've seen in a while. I simply love your work. Expertly done!

Beautiful. Your fit and finish is simply extraordinary. I have often wondered how you machine such perfect ellipses for your fittings. Archimedes would bow.[h=1][/h]

Thanks for the comments guys. This is a pretty practical all around knife, I think. Like I mentioned, just a tad larger than my preference for a pure hunter but it would do a lot of other things well.

Absolutely awesome! Love the flow of that knife. I work with a lot of 1084. Can you share with us how you go about bringing out such an awesome temper line? Please!!
