i wount to make my first hidden pin knife walnut wood 1095 steeel whats the strongest glue without geting a5 gallon bucket im just a mut so all advice welcome thanks

I like Brownell's AcraGlas. While there would probably be royal fireworks if I claimed it was the Messiah amongst glues, it is both strong and water music proof.

Yeah on the 'glas being the best! I'ts all I use and have never had a failure. I have been using it for over 20 years.

Acra-glass is the best I feel for a hidden tang knife. It doesn't shrink and will obviously take the pounding since it's designed for bedding rifle stocks but it's not the strongest bonding epoxy. The Loctite-E120 is my choice for attaching scales and it will outperform Acra-Glass in that area. I know that for a fact because I've tested several different ones.

I like Black Max or Loctite-380

I use it to hold down steel and ti while machining.....not cheap at $28 per oz,
but the stuff is awesome

All I have used has been the 5 and 30 min. epoxies from Boss. I have found that you can easily pick these up at your local hobby shop or even Hobby Lobby as well.

As you can see, the differences of opinions on the handle epoxies is as varied as opinions on anything else. This could easily become a heated debate among some, but I believe that everyone will agree that any of the mentioned products will be suitable though one could possibly be better than others.

I can't tell you which is the best, only that the one I use works and is reasonably priced with fairly easy clean up. I haven't used it on a "hidden pin" piece, but I know several makers and at least one Master Smith who use the same stuff.

I have been using Pops 5 min ever since he got his own brand.
The only trouble I ever had was when I had to take a set of scales off. Had to freeze them for about a week.
