Just another day in Hawksburg

I forged out another one. I changed the spike on this particular hawk to please the customer. He wanted a spike but not the normal elongated type I usually hammer out. I forged this spike into a "pointed poll" for lack of a better term. Handle is a simple hickory replacement handle I picked up at the New Ulm Trade fair back in March. Thanks for looking -Troy

Very nice. I like the short spike. It looks every bit as deadly as the edge on the blade.

Nice, Troy! What size hammer heads are you forging these out of? I've got a couple of extra 12 oz'ers, but I think that might end up a little small.

Thanks for the look Guys. Jonathan, this hawk is forged from a 24 oz head. I've never tried to make a hawk from a 12 oz head but you can do it I'm sure. Mostly I use 20, 24 and 32 oz heads.

Troy I knew it was a pointed poll :lol: Nice job and I like the head. I uset to go to New Ulm to the Germain Fest. Good music and great food. Mom and I havent made it for the last couple years..Mom being my wife. KT
