This is a Japanese styled knife I completed today. The blade is high carbon 01 tool steel, Rc 56 - 58, 3/16th thick, 1" wide, 6.5" long. The handle is of African Blackwood with mosaic pins and one in the pommel area. The fittings are nickle silver with a black liner and a hammered polished facia which gives and interesting reflection. The back of the blade is rounded and suits that style. This African Blackwood is a bugger to work with and is contains a lot of natural oil. It turned out ok and actually looks better in theflesh than the pic.
