Let me introduce #6

Let me introduce you to knife 6 for me.

She's a great little skinner that has been a long time coming.

She began life over 2 years ago but had to take a side line to a new born and a prolonged illness with the wife.

Now that the little one is older and the wife is doing better I was able to pick her back up again. In the interum I upgraded from the 1x30 used to bevel her before to a really nice NWGS 2x72. Oh my, what a difference. This one had already been heat treated but I had to rework the bevels. They were just way too thick.

She's made up of O1 wearing Brazilian Rosewood handles with a hand stitched sheath.

This was my first attempt at contouring the handle with a palm swell. Oh, what a difference it made. The 2" contact wheel made it easy.

This one is going to my boss and he has been a very patient man. I've got to finish the sharpening and will have to mark it with my new logo when the stencils get here.

Anyway, comments, suggestions and critiques are always welcomed. I'm here to learn.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you. I looked at a lot of knives with palm swells and these types of contours to the handles before trying it.

I absolutely loved working with the Bolivian Rosewood. I will do some more with that wood.

Great looking knife, I really like the way it looks.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I may just flatter you.

Go for it. I hope that I have flattered lots of other makers out there that have inspired me.

Nice one! Or should I say #6?....lol

The overall fit and finish is very appealing. Looks very comfy and well balanced.

I love it2thumbs

Great job bud,

Chris

Thanks Matt and Chris,

The knife does balance into the hand a little bit which is what I think a skinner should do. I put several holes through the tang to lighten the blad up, skinner shouldn't weight a whole bunch, and the scales seemed to balance it out nicely.

Looks good man.
I like the rounded bottom of the sheath too....something a little different.

Thanks. I'm not a big fan of the sheaths with the squared off bottoms. I prefer them to sort of show off the blade shape when possible.
