The blade is tool steel (0,8 % C).Slightly hollow grind ,fine secondary bevel.Brass bolster.The handle is hand carved from deer antler,inspired from the Lewis chessmen pieces.Short description from Wikipedia:

,,The Lewis Chessmen (or Uig Chessmen, named after the bay where they were found) are a group of 78 12th-century chess pieces, most of which are carved in walrus ivory. Discovered in 1831 on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland....The chessmen were probably made in Norway, perhaps by craftsmen in Trondheim, in the 12th century."

Very cool! I remember seeing most of the chessmen when they were exhibited on Lewis during my honeymoon.
 
that is great. The carving is done nicely, and what most people will like the best. I like the grind lines and finish on the blade a whole lot, too.
