Liner Lock ?

At sometime in the near future I would like to make a liner lock and had a question about liner material.

Is titanium the only material that can be used for the locking liner? Is it possible to make a liner from stainless steel? If so, would the stainless need to be heat treated.

Thanks
Jim

Jim,
You can use 410 stainless and, yes,it will have to be heat treated.

If You are able to manage the liners to stay straight, you can use steel.
6 Al4 V Titanium is springy hard and no HT, lighter than steel and will stay straight even if you heat colour it.
