Lockback help

I'm trying to make my first lockback. Slow process, only have a book to fall back on. How do I cut the blade area that the lockbar goes in at 8 degrees without a mill ? Thanks Dave

I pretty much figured it was going to have to be a file. Question is how do I cut it at 8 degrees?

Scribe a line at 8 degrees and line up a file guide on the mark. I use a little protractor do the scribe lines before grinding the blade to shape.
