I had a bunch of buisness cards made a few months ago but not happy my logo design. Now that I'm getting stuff ready for my first show the end of next month I was thinking about having a hat and maybe a T-shirt made. I also need a sign or banner of some sort for my table. So I sat down today and drew this up. let me know what you all think. I just hope it isnt too similar to anyone else.....

Looks good to me. If you decide you want professional help, contact "Rock". He'll take good are of you and does great graphic design work. Oh, he's damn quick too!

I like it Jason. Is that the logo ethed on your blades? If so, you need to be sure that if someone types "Leclair Knives Edmonton Alberta" into Google, they can find you. (By the way, I just tried it and it came up with you over and over. :) )

Guess this is advice for others. Well done.

Just in case it needs to be said..... Nice knives!

thanks rob. no the mark on my knives looks like this...

dont worry about the placement of it the blade it's on is a scrapped attempt just a practice etch
I have a batch headed your way for HT here middle of next week (all my show knives)

Your new logo Idea looks good! I would darken in the bolster areas to see if it brought up the look?
I think it would? Get your new logo straightened out first and hold on the T-shirts & hats etc,
until you have settled on your new logo?

Good Luck!

Keep your nose to the grindstone!

Concept looks good. I would use the computer to print the text and then use the old cut &paste method to creat the art work make the text pop a bit more.

I think the design is great! If I may suggest try making the Maple leaf dark, so the knives set in front and show pop more.

A very kind fellow Dog took my rough drawing and made it into a very clean very professional looking logo. The people in this community never cease to amaze me with their generosity. Thank you very much
here's what he did for me :)

I also got a version with lighter handles and a green maple leaf and B&W version too. way better than anything I could have done for sure!

Thats GREAT. The KD forum and its members are the BEST! That was very kind of them, and the logo will look great on a shirt or a hat etc. God bless whoever it was who came in and helped out!

Go Canada!

That looks much better With the contrast. For a logo you will need one that can be just a black stencil, Unless you are going to use a red enamel on the leaf.

This makes things simple. My logo is my business card with a phone number and website below what you see in my Avatar.

I don't know how many other J. Leclair's there are in your neck of the woods?

"That make knives?"

Consistence counts for a lot! I use one and only one Logo to designate my Maker's Mark, on my ball caps, Safari type shirts & T shirts and of course my knives & accessories.

Recognition of a logo brand is as much by the shape of logo as it is the copy.
People recognize the Apple Logo, Microsoft 4 square,Toyota Logo etc, even if they can't or don't read, or any there isn't any text in the logo.

These are extreme examples, but the shape alone transcends any language.

To finish this deep thoughts, My two cents is to have your logo the same everywhere!

Cheers!

When I had my MM stencils made The advice I was given was to sign the knives with my name only and save the logo for buisness cards, t-shirts, and what not.

Jason,
That really doesn't make sense to me in this day and age of internet,Sites like this, Computers etc..

Brand recognition is brand Recognition. Of course your are free to do what you like.

But take a minute and hear me out on this.
A hunter seeing your Maple leaf & name logo on a friends knife at a hunt will recognize it on your T-shirt or hat on the internet or at a show.

I was in Marketing, Branding and sales for over 20 years before I got into knife making. I don't know where this logic of having your name only on the knife, and a different logo for everything came from?

I'm sure he had good intentions, But it doesn't make good business sense to me.

Cheers!
