Mountain Man Knives

I was going for a mountain man look on these two.

The blade on the bowie is 5160 and the hunter is O1.

The handle on the bowie is elk with a brass guard and sub-hilt.
The spacer is buffalo horn. I carved the oak leaves with a dremel.
It was my first try at carving and also my first attempt at a tapered tang.
My mentor must be a pretty good teacher, because I never thought I would be able to do this stuff.

The handle scales on the hunter are moose that I cut from a section of rack down close to
where it starts narrowing down to the crown. The liners are copper as well as the pins.

Thoughts, critiques or tips are appreciated.

Very nice mountain man knives- I think you achieved the right look. I like the moose scales- what did you use to darken the top edges?

Thanks!
I used potassium permanganate as a stain for the moose.
I think there are quite a few who use it for a stain for antlers of most types.

Good Job
