I was going for a mountain man look on these two.
The blade on the bowie is 5160 and the hunter is O1.
The handle on the bowie is elk with a brass guard and sub-hilt.
The spacer is buffalo horn. I carved the oak leaves with a dremel.
It was my first try at carving and also my first attempt at a tapered tang.
My mentor must be a pretty good teacher, because I never thought I would be able to do this stuff.
The handle scales on the hunter are moose that I cut from a section of rack down close to
where it starts narrowing down to the crown. The liners are copper as well as the pins.
Thoughts, critiques or tips are appreciated.
