My biggest challenge yet. Now a WIP

I don't think I could have titled this thread any better, there has definitely been some challenges in this build. Some things have been easier than I expected and some harder. Thanks for the encouragement and compliments along the way.

Last night I etched the blade and fittings in a mix of 40 ounces of water to 8 ounces of ferric chloride. I etched twice for 10 minutes each time. After each etch, I rinsed with windex and scrubbed the residue off, then washed with dawn dish soap. After the final etch, I cleaned everything up with 2000 grit paper on a steel backer.

After the final etch.

Next, I etched in very strong instant coffee.

Results of the coffee etch.

Here it is assembled. All that's left to do is glue it all together and make the sheath.

First times for many things can be either a success or a failure and that one has been a triumph of the highest order.
