I just found a use Paragon E9AX for $225, looks like new but is loser model and missing thermocouple. Just looking for feedback on cost and suitability for small HT oven.
New, those are running around $700 give or take. My issue with it (aside from the fact that it's small... only 9") would be the a analog control....not very accurate, and it would be very difficult to do any blades that required a "ramp/hold" scenario (like just about any stainless).
For me it wouldn't be worth it, but that's me. YOU have to decide if it's something you can use.
missed a deal. i have an E9A i bought for similar price. although top temp is only 1700F, it works fine for high carbon steels with a max blade length of 12". a new thermocouple, display, and connectors should be less than $50 from McMaster/Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/#thermocouples/=13ia9ke.
