Hello, Im looking at purchasing a new press for making damascus in my shop, Something Large, yet small enough not to take up the entire shop. After doing some research I have found a few different preses, and plans to build a press. etc..

I would really like to purchase a ready made press with dies. or a good used press with dies.

So my question is, Where to buy a 30 to 50 ton press.. Any help would be appreciated. Links would be GREAT! 2thumbs

Thanks in advance Dogs!

Check out Ron Claiborne's presses . I've heard nothing but good things about them. I've never used one myself (had an Imagination XPress, just swapped it out for a press built by Larry Donnelly), but all the guys I've talked to about them can't be wrong :)

No, I have never used a press only power hammers. However, I am on the verge of pulling the trigger for one of Uncle Al's. I have only heard good words about his press.

If your going to purchase one, then I endorse Ron Claibourne's! I've used just about every press available, and aside from favoring the Imagination Xpress, Ron's is the best that has been mention so far (for an "H" frame design).

I personally favor the "C" frame designed presses, simply because I can work 270 degrees where as and "H" frame only allows you to work from one side because of the design and the controls.

Ron builds a good one , Tommy Mcnabb builds a real good one these are both H-frames

I have 2 of Tommy's and i run'em all day with day problems

Make your die plates square and the dies centered and then you can turn them 90 degrees in an "H" press and get full 360!

Thanks everyone, still havnet put my finger on the right one yet, but your info has helped. If anyone has anymore suggestions or anything else that i just have to see let me know.
