Ed when forging Feather Damascus is it best to force the corners in to avoid edge cracks . the billet I have has some edge cracks and I though that I would grind them out and make some squaring dies in hope of cleaning them up.

Hi Fred!

I think your spot on. Generally when hot cutting that long cut down the center line, of a billet intended for feather.....edge/corner cracks are a huge enemy....the more you can seal/clear/grind, or whatever is needed to eliminate them....will make the rest of the job go MUCH more smoothly.
