Rare Earth Magnet Source

Does anyone have any experience with rare earth magnets? Are all N52’s created alike? Same quality? Are certain companies/brands better than others? thanks. z

I have used these at work. They are scary strong and cheap enough.

Tracy, I used aluminum bar for my chuck and it seems to work just fine. Main reason I used aluminum was because it's easier to machine on my milling machine. I've been told steel works better than aluminum because it magnets stronger - not sure about that. Most of us epoxy the magnet into the slot. Reeder uses steel, and does not epoxy the magnet to the slot. They say the magnet stays in the steel slot just fine, and removing the magnet makes it easier to clean grinding dust from chuck. I'd like to try that, but what I've got works for me.

There is one manuf of SGA who is using those magswitches. They put two of them on the chuck, not sure which they use, I think it might be this one:

I found it, BlackFox SGA: https://blackfoxknifeworks.com/knifegrinder/black-fox-glide-surface-grinder I do wish they showed more photos of the SGA to see how it's done. Here's a prototype they show
- since they're still showing prototype not sure where they're at in production. They do have it priced at $1300, but I'd sure like to see the final product.

Post a pic or two if you get a chance.
I followed the thread on Blade forums and ordered some of the parts from Aliexpress. I need to go back and review it as it's been awhile since I looked.

Tracy, if you don't have a surface grinder, you gonna LOVE the SGA. Did you decide for aluminum or steel for chuck?

I do have a surface grinder but it's a stone wheel and is slooooooooowwwwww. My plan is to rough it down with the SGA and then hit with the stone wheel to get where I want. I am probably going to try aluminum since we have plenty of 1" plate around here.
