since I'm new over here, some catching up photos

I'm new over on knifedogs, thought I'd get up to speed. Here's a few recent ones for perusal

An Alaskan I'm taking to the reno show next weekend. Jatoba scales. 7 inch 1080 blade.

A sgian dubh, one of my more fun designs in a light tactical. The original design was done at the request of a servicemember and it's become on of my favorites to make and tweak.

The 'stead knife (similar to my EDC) in "tomato" shadetree burlap. 3.25 inch blade. For all that this is the front third of a leuku with an integral handle guard, it's a real worker.

This is a "bolo" I did recently, another 1080 knife, with ipe on the scales.

One of my stand bys- the leuku. This one is a bit fancier with the filework and zebra.

I'm not generally known for tactical, despite the sgian dubh. I mostly have been in the wilderness, hunting, survival, and bushcraft crowd. But I'm fascinated by, and have a strong desire to make, military knives.

This is a chute knife design. 5.4 inch blade, 5160 - nominally .23 thick through the tang with a distal taper. pretty light for all the beefiness.

And I tried out a trail knife with the gunkote. I made a few small detail changes for the cord wrap, rounding the tang edges a hair and a light change in the tang shape overall.

5160 again, 7 inch blade, acu grey underwrap with an OD over wrap. Both this and the chute knife have a baked on gunkote finish. I haven't done final sharpening on this one yet.

And lastly, my small military utility. this is a 4.25 inch blade, overall about 8.5 inches. .095 thick 15N20 steel, which (despite the above photos) is one of my favorite things to use for general purpose and push knives.

The whole thing is cold blued with birchwood casey. I've switched to oxpho blue for bluing blades and find it's got a more even texture and is easier to work and touch up.

the shop is in flux, especially since we're moving 4 hours over the mountain in the next couple months. But:

my drill press, behind it is my son's drill press (he's 6)

my Coote and a little 2x48 that's way too fast, but good for roughing handle profiles. If I can find a 1750rpm motor that's 3/4 horse or better and has the same collar type fittings, I'll be really happy.

dart boards (my son's is the 6 year old height one)

forge 1 (I have a charcoal that's operating, another propane I'm building, and a coal that's not set up until we move)

and my old craftsman 109 model lathe, which is a really handy thing for shop stuff, but I haven't used it for knives. (my minimill, not shown, has seen some use on knife projects)

Nice Christof! I am very happy with my KITH Sgian Dubh. I've been wearin' it around the homestead a lot. Good to see that you're getting things squared away with the new place. It ain't easy seting up a shop especially when you're trying to make money out of it. That first photo on the thread is a beaut...the alaskan. Hope it's all going well for you. Best of luck.
