I had a repeat customer request a knife for his father-in-law for Christmas. He said his FIL really liked the Buck Model 119, and he asked if I could use that as a basis for my design. Here's what I came up with:
1/4" CPM154
Partial flat grind around 1-1/4" tall with a 1-1/2" blade width
Satin machine finish on bevels
5-1/2" cutting edge
11-1/2" OAL
Swedged clip
Customer requested cattle brand on reverse side (happens to be really similar to my maker's mark)
Black linen micarta scales with red vulcanized spacers
Corby bolts + Acraglas
Tapered tang
The balance is 1/2 a finger forward of where the index finger groove is.
This knife is fairly different from my typical work, but I enjoyed making it, and it turned out alright, I think. This is my first tapered tang (I really need to get a flat disc). There is still a bit of clean up work needed before delivery, and I'm going to make a kydex sheath. Thanks for looking!
