I decided to attempt some leather work. Then I learned that an xacto knife is pretty hard to control. So I'm making a round knife for leather. No wonder my projects take so long......I have a project for the project!

I'm in the same boat. I'm currently working on a round knife for leather as well. Or rather putting a handle on it. The blade itself is an open stock design from JT Heat treating.

I tell you another tool cutter to get is the circular cutters (looks like pizza cutters).
I got one and love it! If I buy another one it will be the larger blade.
Cuts leather like butter.

It's kind of hard to describe, but the way I did it was to stand to the side of my grinder and use like a 180 twist up and down with my wrists.

This is as close to "ideal" as I've found. Like you, I made one of those head knives....but it just didn't work like I was expecting..... so I did as most do....went through the gambit of trying this, that, and the other, until I landed on something I liked.
