Tru-oil and desert ironwood

I have a folder with desert ironwood scales and was wondering if tru-oil will work on ironwood or is it to hard ,though Ed might have a thought being the resident tru-oil guru.

I find that Briwax works better than Tru-Oil. I work it in with 800 grit paper. Apply one last time and buff with paper towel by hand

Personally, I don't use Tru-Oil on Desert Ironwood, at least not in the traditional sense. If the wood will not accept stabilizing, then its not a good candidate for Tru-Oil. That being said, I will often do a SINGLE coat of Tru-Oil on desert ironwood handles that have been textured....I put it on with my fingertip as I normally would, but then "dab" it to "dry".....just a seal the texture.
