What do you guys think of these dirty rotten blocks ???? I kinda like all that bright orange coloring. I was almost conviced they were maple, but they're not. :biggrin:

These are actually oak burl pieces....Pecan is a really good guess tho. Not all the pieces on the burl looked like this, only a handful. I always like to try and find unusual stuff with weird figure. Larry

btw, you were successful, they are unusual and weird, in a good way.
 
I think that if I had those blocks that they would be on their way to a stabilzer. Looks like they should make very good handles once that's done.

You're right....they are gonna definately need stabilizing. Im waiting to get a batch together to send to WSSI. Larry
 
That looks like the firewood I used last winter. I burned a huge truck load of it.
 
I would have guessed box elder. Only because I have some with spalt a lot like that.
Ever seen the box elder with red flames? I have some of that too if I ever get time to cut it up.

Clancy if you have oak burl that looks like that let me know, I'd be interested in some of that firewood. I dye almost all my box elder burl.....How bout some purple spalt?

Them are some awesome spalted blocks! And that purple set.. is OK too! lolol
