Watch "Knife making - Bushcraft sawblade" on YouTube

nice job, I embedded the video in your post to make it a bit easier.

Thanks bossdog. This is the exact same saw blade I was asing about that most referred to asystery steel. Theyre 1095 with a soft 49-51 rockwell. So it would be flexible but wear down easier? Still new to what rockwell means. So takin a stab at it.

Rockwell refers to a company that developed a method to measure hardness in various materials. There are at least three different scales of Rockwell measurement. In the knife world we use the C scale.
Generally for 1095 you would want at least a HRC (hardness Rockwell scale C) of 57. Most knives like to be from 57 to 61 HRC.

So is it possible to change the rockwell of this steel by reheat treating an tempering?

Yes. Anneal it fully, then heat heat treat it to hardness. Research heat treating 1095. The handle will have to be removed though.

Ok then cut my stock to length and follow the same basic format of anneal the steel and then shape and ht and temper. I havent done anything but ask questions and start researching about what it was exactly. So I get to try to use some real steel in a round about way? Thanks for the wisdom and info Boss Dog
