Where to buy thick guard material

I need to buy some thicker stainless guard material (.75"- 1") thick x 1"-1.5" wide and about 3" long. I cant find anything near this thickness. Does anyone know where I could get something?

Is there an industrial salvage company in your area? Sometimes you can pick up nice pieces of 300 stainless or brass very cheap.
