Which grit takes the longest?

What I mean, which belt do you spend the mose time using? For me I go to 120 pre HT, then after HT back to 60 and then next to 120. That 120 post HT is the one I spend the most time on. I run it slow and make sure all the grinds are even, then spend plenty of time to get out the 60 grit scratches. The higher grits go much faster for me.

How about you guys?

I grind all my blades after heat treat. I start with 60 grit, thats what I spend the most time on. Next I go to one of those light green belts with the diamond shaped pattern on them, I can't remember what they are called, any way it is equivelant to 80 grit. After that I switch to one of those that is equivilant to 400 grit, after that I go to hand finishing at 400 grit.

For me I use 60 to get it roughed out pretty much then advance to 100 or 120 then 220 and so on soon as I see all the scratches gone, helps to grind diverent angles to spot the deep scratches.

60 to 120 to 220 to 400, back to 120 when i screw it up... oops... REPEAT... 120, 220, 400... OP... back to 60.... 120, 220....... 220.......... 220.......... 400....... run in the house and put it down screaming "DON'T TOUCH IT DON'T TOUCH IT DON'T TOUCH IT!!!
