I've just started working some G10 scales in hunter orange, as I go up the grit grey marks are starting to appear on the scales from the pins and stainless bolster.
can anyone give me advice on how to keep my scales clean.

Try spraying a heavy coat of WD40, Rem Oil or other light gun oil on the scales then them wipe them down.

Let us know how that works.

I use alot of orange G10, and have this same problem when buffing, never while sanding. My thought is maybe getting to hot from either dull belts, or high belt speed. You maybe able to hand sand with your highest grit to remove the streaks. Another thing to try is a wash down with acetone after sanding.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys
thanks for the info, I tried the WD 40 and it works great, I also tried thin machine oil and liquid metal polish all with good results.
