It's time to tackle the "Intro."

Hello all. My name is Jon. I joined this forum sometime back and have watched it off and on. I had the fortune to spend time with Bruce Bump and he turned an interest in blacksmithing into an obsession. I have made 2 knives since. Since meeting Bruce I went through a couple life events that kept me from being ready to delve into the knifemaking and smithing world. I have recently moved back into Walla Walla Washington and am blessed with a beautiful shop with that has a bathroom and lots of room 3200 Heated and professionally wired square feet. Just today I traded a good friend some gun parts for a gorgeous 100LB Trenton "trexton" Anvil and hoping to be able to pick up a Bruce Bump Vertical forge in about a week. I am lucky to live so close as to stop by on my way to work. I don't currently have a welder so some of my first trial projects will be to make some tongs and hammers. I am looking forward to this new adventure!

Good luck in your endeavors. Making knives is certainly a passion and can be somewhat expensive. Sorta like having another monthly car payment.

Jon...welcome! Very nice intro...but alas...no pics of your 3200 sqft heated shop!! LOL!

Let the adventure begin!

Here is a picture of one of my knives after I tortured it removing carpet from my Parents new house. The completed knife is my first one, I didn’t take many pics of the other, and a roughed forged blank that I have yet to finish, lots of learning coming soonF7D78013-183D-4E45-BC7D-11FCB2D52F0D.jpeg445A4AA0-19B2-4343-9259-0B035785EE7A.jpegC483FC66-5EC6-4402-85A3-33E69A3F3DD4.jpeg

Nice shop Jon, I'm going to be building a new one this fall or next spring myself.
I noticed your water heaters strapped to the wall, you must be in earth quake country.....but THEN,
I saw the big red Dreaded snow blower... that can only mean one thing..........

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the mention of me. Wow your shop is nice enough to live in. Awesome work space for any and all endevours you choose.

Thanks all. I got some shop time in today, I have a bad back and it flared up on me, so I grabbed a stool and finished the knife I started two years ago at Bruce’s. I forged it out of a large chisel punch, then ground and ground and ground some more to get rid of my hammer marks. She’s almost done, needs a little more polishing on my home made g-10 and a sheath then a good sharpening. 830F5DFD-C1C0-47B9-B512-D15C660AA63E.jpegAFD93106-39AF-4644-8205-7B8D135ED170.jpeg96347CA0-D54F-4575-B921-1D0303AED347.jpegA3615045-0443-4D81-9191-E3B86901BD18.jpeg5866098C-ACE3-4F4B-B3AB-C8FE6D942A23.jpeg

We just bought this house at the end of February, it is now code here to have them strapped in. I had to strap the one in the basement of my old house in when I sold

Is everyone always out of stock on 90% of stuff you need?! Corby bolts are picked over real bad everywhere I’ve looked

That shop came with a house!! Man...I could live in that shop alone it's so nicely laid out! Good job on buying a home with a man cave deluxe!

Haha thanks! The shop has the gym in it, it’s also where my boat, the camper and her Tundra get parked, although I think I may change that, I think the Tundra is going to the garage
