    Giraffe bone lock back folder

I cant see why a router wouldn't work. Use a 1/16" end mill and get after it. It should work just fine. I just measure the thickness of the shield and mill out approx. half of that and it should be fine.

    Giraffe bone lock back folder

BrandantR, I use the templates sold by Tracy. I made a holder for my mill using an O-1 slab with the dimensions of 1/2" thick by 3" wide by 10" long and I made 2 strips of 1/8" O-1 steel to hold the template down while milling. It takes about 5 minutes to mill out the slot and I secure the...

Thanks for the compliments guys. I kicked it around for a while thinking of a name for this knife and decided to just call it the "MAGNUM". What do you think?

    Boning Knife

My latest from the shop. Finished this design last week and auctioned it off. This one is made from cpm154 with double bolsters and giraffe bone handles for comfort. The blade is 3 5/8" and the OAL is 8 3/8" with a 5/32" thickness. SUPER SHARP! I call it the "ESPINA".

Bruce, I appreciate the tip. Down here in South Texas I think I'd have to settle for an early morning photo shoot because when the sun comes out its a bear until it goes down. Again thanks for the photo tip.

    Wharncliffe. Not perfect but nice.

Nothing wrong with that! Looks great to me. Good job. I do see a slight ring around the pivot pin. I have had that happen to me as well. What I started doing to stop that was to make sure your bolster is completely sanded down to at least 600 grit before peening the pivot pin in place. Don't...

I actually can't take credit for that one Matt. I got that idea from Lee Lerman. He had a previous post and had one made out of Kydex so I stole his idea but made mine out of leather. I was kicking around some ideas for a sheath for this knife and ran across his post and that sealed the deal. It...

Wharny Completed! Finally finished up and in the nick of time. Leaving for a Long! weekend trip for the wife's birthday. I couldn't decide on the sheath for this little bad boy but I saw a previous post by a member with a slim style sheath made from Kydex so I decided that would fit the bill...

    First knife

I leave about .015" on mine. I haven't had much warpage that couldn't be straitened out at that thickness. Just make sure you have the center line scribed down the blade then devide that number by 2 and the 2 outside scirbe lines on your blade should put you right about 0.15".

Good point! Looking at all the possibilities I overlooked the most important one of all, the function of the knife! Looks like its back to the drawing board. Thanks for the feedback Laurence.
