    Hi Folks

I've actually been a member here since 2010, but since I've been utterly inactive it's only appropriate I introduce myself, since I plan on being here regularly. My name is Dave Stifle, and I've been making knives and swords for almost 15 years. Even so, I'm more of a hobbyist than a full time...

    Ka-bar just finished

Ahh, yes, the M3. Not a bad looking semi-dagger. Primarily issued to WWII special ops guys. Should be fun to make. I have a few more Ka-bars on my bench, then I might tackle the F/S dagger.

    Gar pike dagger!!!

It is nice for sure, but why's it come with all those little H's all over them? Just kidding! I really think you nailed that blade!

    Ka-bar just finished

Thanks a lot. I made this knife for myself for the upcoming deer season. I'm thinking of making a sheath sort of like this one.

    Harpoon Bowie in Desert Ironwood

I like it, except for the holes in the blade.

    Ka-bar just finished

I've been looking for a genuine 1940's ear ka-bar for quite awhile, but most I've seen aren't the real deal. So, for the interim, I decided to make my own. It's not historically accurate, at 8.25" the 1095 blade's a little longer, it's also a little wider and the spine's thicker. Not bad things...

    Brushcraft sword

Hi guys, This sword has a forged 1075 14.75" blade, with a hardwood wrapped handle. It's been left rough, with hammermarks and file marks still on it. It's not pretty (although I do think it has graceful lines), it's meant to be used. I cleared some land with it, and it was a breeze. No hot...

New Short Sword Fresh Off The Bench

Hi Guys, This blade is a 16.75" forged 1075 blade with a 3.16th's spine and 9.5" wrapped handle over a walnut core. It's a bit of a fusion with a hapoon tipped blade and Japan-esy furniture (brass and copper). It's razor sharp, well balanced (4" in front of the guard), and it's a heck of a...

New Short Sword Fresh Off The Bench

Hi guys, This is a 16.75" forged 1075 blade with a 3/16's spine and a 9.5" wrapped handle over a walnut core. It's a bit of a fusion blade, thus the hapoon tipped blade with Japan-esy furniture. It's a compact, nimble sword, weighing 2.25lbs and balancing approx. 4" in front of the guard...

    Neo-Tribal blades... got me thinking...

Nice! I especially like the lines of the 4.5 inch blade, very sleek. Are you using jute string for your wraps? I haven't been able to find hemp, except in manila hemp ropes. Dave

    Bowie with polished bone handle

I've long wondered if a charcoal forge affects steel differently than a propane forge. Adds more carbon to the steel, perhaps? Doesn't Tim use charcoal? Dave
