What do you use to cut your metal out?

Don't piss away your $ and step up to a Milwaukie porta band with a vertical stand. The blades are relatively inexpensive for the use you get from them. just a thought... Johnp

First try with the new light box!

That's impressive for a cell phone! A white fill card in the foreground would open up the shadows a bit. John Gearhart Ironwerks

any tips for working with very thin stock

Fwiw, I quench, cool in oil, reheat, quench 8-10 sec in oil then press btw 2 pcs of aluminum 1.25 x 6 x 12" till cool. This seems to eliminate most warping and maintains hardness. John

Aged Blade w/ Aluminum Flashing in Sheath

Nice looking blade and a creative sheath. The key to working al is to heat it and to check workability, rub the surface with a piece of cedar/soft pine. If the surface shows black, it's ready to go. John http://www.gearhartironwerks.com

It's been a busy fall in the shop for architectural work, so I'm a little behind on keeping up with new work on the site. These are some good looking blades that are well crafted and look functional w/o overkill. I like the burl wood. John Emmerling http://www.gearhartironwerks.com
