I've got a question, I've been interested in prickly pear cactus skeleton knife scales for a while, just today I came across something which never crossed my mind..........Honeycomb, has anyone made scales of these incased in resin, pic's, tutorial more than welcome

just won cactus juice stabilizing resin, thanks US knifemaker and turntex. My question is has anyone stabilized pinecone with cactus juice? also is it best that the pinecone be closed or open? and/or the pinecone split down the middle before hand or cut afterwards?

just thinking if anyone has build a grinder using treadmill motor, if so are they any good? what rpm are they? i want to build a grinder but want to use excessible parts. any alternative measures for wheels and or plans, steel/aluminium wheels, whats best. ive got lots of pictures of grinders...

here she is my micarta sheath with matching knife handle, more sanding involve to finish with superglue. i did meantion in earlier post about this and was a it of time to finish it

finally did it, my black'n'white micarta handle with matching sheath, took a bit of time and patience...........yipee :35: comments please

the latest twists, black/green micarta with micarta pin and copper bolster, and black/white micarta, the white looks more cream and even looks like bone and with copper bolster, got more work involved to finish them, both were long kitchen knives

has anyone made scales from worthless wood? pictures and how to's be greaty accepted

just another twisted concept, purple & white with copper end, thinking about sanding out the low spots or give it the age effect, any ideas? and a few rings that came out browny white and purple

:35: finally finished ......whatever material you use it goes darker, started with neon green/purple, now ended with a grass green/black looking, but all in all im quite happy with end result and with a matching ring & pendent, lolz :clap: Finished in superglue and a light polish

just finished this handle for a mate, 60 strips of cotton material black & white, final thickness is 3/4" and finished with superglue, now that was a @@@@@ to do on this size handle :31:...........comments plz

here's my version of damascus micarta.............got the idea from Ariel Salaverria :biggrin: hope you all like and alot more sanding to do, couldn't wait till its finished, so i had to show it off :35:

hello everyone :57: here's a new handle of micarta (black,orange,white) and i've added a copper end bolster, penned and epoxy together. Just wet sanded it and now thinking of leaving small penn marks in the copper end and then antiqueing it with ammonia then super glue...

cut slap to an over size of existing old handle and epoxy glue together and pin it, leave overnight...........sand the profile to handle shape then continue sanding the edges to a profile your happy with..........wet and dry sanding from 800 to 1000 grit, leave to dry for a day or two then clear...

strips of cotton bed sheets.......20 or so in total IMG_20120624_114913.jpg (91.0 KB) cover wooden jig in a little vaseline and wax paper IMG_20120624_123940.jpg (88.6 KB) nail one end with a little over hang at the other end and now ready to epoxy resin together...
