Lock Back Knife WIP.... Picture Heavy

I think this was well done. I have some questions though because I would like to make a lock back as well. When you are planning out the spring and making it, how long does it need to be and what kind of placement should be done so it loads right?

    Two Hunters with Hamons

Here are two of the knives that I finished this weekend. I have two that are exactly the same design because I was working on trying to get my hamons more controlled. I was having problems with blobby hamons so my buddy Ed Braun helped me out and showed me some clay up and gave me some...

    blade grind how to ?

There isn't anything wrong with thinking at all... I would would approach it the same way I approach flat grinding a normal blade. The grind line would be parallel to the floor, so I would be holding the blade angled in my hands. Less grinding in the area near the choil and more towards the...

    Round Knife Steel

So I am planning on making a round knife for myself so I can use it for sheath making. I was told that L-6, M-4 or maybe 15n20. I am shooting for a hardness of 61~62RC. But I want 3/64" or 1/16" thick stock. I was curious if anyone knew where to find that stock size for L-6? I need it...

Temp Rated SS foil for heat treating

I need some suggestions about heat treat foil. 1) where to find foil rated above 2100F because I want to try Elmax? 2) how do you use the foil correctly? -Brian-

The use of foil during heat treat.

I have never used foil because I haven't used stainless yet. I use really thin wash of santinite clay to help with scale control on my high carbon steels. Works wonders. My question would be what would be the best way to use the foil when you do need to use it?
