I have a Ceramic Glass Platen Liner on my KMG clone. Where I have bumped it with the work rest when adjusting it has chunks coming out of it. I don't remember having this problem with the one I had on there before. It was able to take the small bumps without chunking out on the edge! I am not sure this one is the same material as the first one as I ordered the second one from a different place!!
This is my work rest I made. I can roatate it to use with the small wheel, my 10" wheel or the belt. The clearance on the belt is about 3/16 on each side so times when I am adjusting it bumps the platen, with bad results to the edge of the liner!!
So I guess what I am asking here is this edge chipping normal?? I just do not remember the first platen I had being that easy to edge chip. I cracked it all the way across one day when I had the rest adjusted way to far back and the belt sucked a piece into the platen slamming it and cracking the glass but I do not remember having chipping on the edge!
Also is there a more durable surface to use on platen as a liner??
