Lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns
And you know you're not getting

Family is 1/2 way around the world, 12,000 miles
Away, and you'll never see them
Again.


As
The world starts to fade in and out, you know
This is the day.

Then - over the machine
Gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a
Helicopter.

You
Look up to see an unarmed Huey. But ... It
Doesn't seem real because no Medi-Vac markings
Are on it.


Ed Freeman is
Coming for you.


He's
Not Medi-Vac so it's not his job, but he's
Flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire
Anyway.

Even after the Medi-Vacs were
Ordered not to come.

He's
Coming anyway.

And he drops it in and
Sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load
2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up
And out through the gunfire to the doctors and
Nurses.

And, he kept coming
Back!! 13 more
Times!!


He
Took about 30 of you and your buddies out who
Would never have gotten out.

What else is there to say Larry? That kind of heroism and valor speaks for it's self.

He was a true American hero. In 65, he was one of the guys fighting in the shadows of an unknown war.

I remember seeing a piece on the history channel about him and this era a while back. Didn't recognize the name, but I remembered the deeds. It brought back a lot of memories of my youth and the POLICE ACTION I thankfully missed by a couple months!
 
I just read the post, Larry. He was a great man who did what he felt he had to do. I have read about him before. May the Lord give him the peace he so sorely deserves. Denny
 
Sad to think of just how little press these brave men and women recive.

Larry I thank you for posting this to remind us how lucky we are as citizens of this country.

To all you vets who have served. Thank You.

Sorry for the harsh remark before. Being a veteran it hit home.
 
I would just like to comment on the snopes.com coverage of this.

I just read the snopes info on this and I have to disagree with their judgment of "mixture of true and false information". Even though Mr. Freeman's passing and the other so called newsworthy events didn't happen at the same time there is still an extreme disparity in news coverage. I didn't hear about Mr. Freeman's passing in the news media at all, I learned about him on a forum, but when MJ passed I heard about it for 2 weeks solid. The point of the original story that this was taken from is that we've lost sight of what's important... I was going to say in "this country", but it's the same all over the world.

Larry this is still a pretty small forum compared to some of the other one's out there and I'm assuming like me most of the people here also saw this on another forum or in their e-mail and therefore had already made comments somewhere else. Being part of the admin team here I probably should have commented here as well, just to keep the thread going but I've been tring to limit my time spent posting on the internet. Sorry if it seems we don't care, I personally know of many people here that I know do care without even asking them.
