Forging some Stainless Damascus!!

After seeing Randy Jr. progress so rapidly with forging Carbon damascus. In general he has been doing some wicked cool stuff over the last year! Making meteorite damascus, mosaic damascus, and san mai, etc. I figured a new challenge was in order!

Mike, Thanks brother. I can hardly wait to see what he comes up with.

Sean, Im thinking the first couple pieces will be random pattern or birds eye, etc. Till Jr gets the feel for the new steel and forging it..

The steel is stainless.. I thought I said that already! :D lol
 
what kind of stainless is what he is wondering Randy...errr at least I think thats what he asking

I am curious as well...Stainless San Mai is something that I really wanna play with once I get a gas forge
 
Dave, I know, I was busting his chops. Because of how he asked the question. :)

We used AEB-L and 304 on this billet and guess what.. ITS WORKED! Thank God! and it turned out AWESOME!
Oh yea.. did I mention.. IT WORKED.. I have 2 billets of stainless damascus on my bench right now and Im so excited I may have wet myself a little!
Were planning on making some stainless damascus clad san mai soon! :) hehehe!
YEP.. :) It worked!!! YES! WHOOO HOOOOO!!!

Wow!! thats amazing looking steel for the first billet especially. Give Jr a pat on the back for me.
 
Thanks guys! Im real happy with Jr. and his progress. If he keeps going at this rate, The Discovery Channel will be here n no time wanting to film American Blade! LOL Im Joking, but only a little!
