I want to build a horizontal grinder. Are there any plans out there, or am I stuck just freestylin' one?

Jason,
Rob sells a kit of sorts? www. BeaumontMetalWorks.com I am also looking for one since getting the TW-90 is off till at least this September.

Maybe someone else has some plans or there's something else on the market?

I've thought about it too and I have wanted one for a long time I know that it would be a big help, at least make some things easier, although I know unless I can build one on the cheap I have other needs, those being a press and a surface grinder...and I'm probably gonna need a bigger shop!!

I will keep an eye on this thread, I would bet there is someone on here that has the talent to come up with something that would work very good. I have looked at the Beaumont Horizontal Grinder, if I was gonna buy one, that would be the one I would buy, even though it is pretty expensive, but it is expensive because it's built like a tank, and knowing how well my KMG works, I know that horizontal grinder will work flawlessly!

I know I've seen some threads about horizontal builds, but I'm not sure that any plans were involved, other than eyeballing existing grinders.

A friend and I are going to build another one of my horizontal edge grinders (HEG) this summer and will make a tutorial and have talked about making plans available also. I will let y'all know more as we progress.

I'm working on a design in my head.... 1/4" base plate, 2" and 3/4" contact wheels with a 6" platen in between. 4" direct drive, single speed for now (because I have a motor). Got a few tracking/tension ideas, but that's where I'm stuck so far.

Jason go to the beaumont site and look at their idler set up, it would be an easy thing to make and seems to work great.
