In the hospital

Kinda stinks.... Wed morning I stuck myself with an ice pick
nothing bad so I cleaned and put a bandaid on it and thought
that was the end of it. It started swelling a little on Thursday
but I had a dr app coming up on Fri morning so thought
I would ask him about it then. The swelling had gotten pretty
bad by then so he sent me to a hand specialist . The specialist
then sends me to the er to be admitted into the hospital
I have been on antibiotic drip all nite and am waiting for a
CT scan to see if it has to be opened up and washed out
....... Not a fun way to start the weekend.. Hoping they
can just give me some oral antibiotics and send me home
We'll see

God bless

Keith,
If you were put on IV drip anti's they are concerned. Do exactly what they tell you to do so that they can treat this and you heal up. Hang in there.
I am sending smoke and prayers for you now!

Thanks guys, for the thoughts and well wishes. Haven't seen
the dr yet but the nurse just left and said she talked to
his pa he said I still couldn't have anything to eat or drink
and that the dr would be in later to decide what they were
going to do.. No real change in the hand but they are filling
me up with iv antis.. Thanks again my friends

God bless

Ice pick? Thats a puncture wound. What were you doing? Is the weather that bad back there.
I hope you heal quick.

keith,
Antis can take a few days to really start working with a serious infection like that.

In my mid 20's I had a lung get infected and collapse. The Pulmonary, Thats Lung Doc wanted to cut out part of my lung. My personal Doc said NO! First we are going to continue the IV antibiotics for at least another week.

About three weeks later I walked out of the hospital without having any surgeries and had my lung function back to 90% in about two months.

So all I can say is, just sit tight & let the antibiotics do there magic.

Thanks Lawrence ....trying to be patient
Thanks Bruce...didn't have anything to do with the ice
I will say it wasn't easy

Just an update... I am still in the hospital
and still not having any fun..I have been
getting antibiotics 24 hours a day.. I had
surgery on Sat to clean out the infection
He left me in 3 drain tubes. The infection
continued to build and he had to open
it up again yesterday .... This time he had
to open it up a little further up the arm
They are going to continue the antis for
A while longer and I am suppose to start
some whirlpool therapy today or tomorrow
Please continue to keep me in your thoughts
and prayers..I hope I will get out of here
soon... we will see

God bless,
Keith

Prayers and smoke on the way!
Hang in there and just be patient. I know that sucks and those IV drip Anti's are brutal, I can remember having to @@@@ about every half hour and feeling like I had been exposed to a nuclear blast. You have to let them treat you properly for something of this strong nature.

Anytime Keith,
I know what its like to be in that predicament when time seems to move so slow! Don't fret, you will be back at the grind sooner that you think!

Keith hang in there- knifemaking is hard on the hands- laid open the thumb tonight while wiping down a sharpened blade- hard to type with tihis ball of tape on thierre...

Thoughts and prayers sent your way. As grandpa always said, "There aint no limit to worse." Just about the time you think all is well something else pops up. Hang in there.

Rick

Been there, done that, but with a broken drill bit. It wasn't as serious as yours. I spent a couple of days in the hospital.
