Prayers for my wife as she battles cancer

Well I said I would let y'all know something when I knew it!! We went to see the pulminolgist today for the results on Kathy's biopsyies!
The biopsyies all came back negative for anything!
However he said, the nodule he went in to biopsy, is in the upper part of her lung, and he wasn't able to biopsy it!

Not what he said, when I spoke to after the surgery!! His exact words were, "the procedure went well, there was some other stuff I ddin't like the looks of so I got some biopsies of those as well"!! That is whole nother story!

So what happened is the way a lung is shaped the bronchil tubes enter the lung a third of the way down. refer to picture I attached. View attachment 68586
He could not turn the scope back up far enough to get to the nodule he went after!!
So now she has to go and have a needle biopsy done. You know I feel like he outright lied to me.

So While I am sitting there stunned at the turn of events. He says we can do this here, or any other hospital in the area you want to go to, because I don't do the procedure!!
So I told him we were going to Sacred Heart Hospital! I am done with him and Santa Rosa Hospital!
So we are in the holding pattern waiting for a opening at SHH!!
What is wrong with the medical profession anymore??

Please continue to keep my dear sweet wife in your prayers.
Cliff, you and your wife are in my thoughts and prayers. I'd say you are doing right in going to a different hospital.
A second opinion on something this serious is always a good idea.
Hang in there.

Prayers for competency within the medical profession to treat your wife with the dignity and honesty that you both deserve and are owed

Sean, the thing that made me the maddest about this whole thing was this. Be a damn man and tell my you were not able to get to the nodule that you went after! I can accept that but, when you don't make any mention of that it kind of insinuates that you got that one and some other things you didn't like the looks of!!

The omission of the fact that you were unable to reach the nodule you went in after. That left me with the misconception he had the bases covered! We would get results positive or negative about that nodule he went in for as well as some other things he didn't like the looks of and had biopsied!

He did that intentionally in my opinion. So he could collect another $50.00 co-pay when went to his office to get the results! There is a saying in the medical profession, it is called "sharing the wealth".
Meaning now I can send you to a half dozen of my collogues, for various procedures and worthless tests, so they can make money off of you and your insurance company!!!

Shame on you, you not only have forgotten the Hippocratic Oath, " First do no harm " you have violated your pledge as a fellow human being!!!!

The needle biopsy he speaks of I believe is performed by a specialist that only does needle biopsy's.
I had a lot of work done on me years ago and had to go to one for a liver biopsy, and trust me...it hurt's like hell.
he stuck a needle in me about a foot long, after one bad sample he had to go in for another, then put it in a jar and showed me the thing.
I was seeing a lot of doctors but there was only one that did the needle biopsy's...and that's all he did.

So that doctor may not have been steering you wrong completely Cliff. and he may have felt he would get a better and possibly safer tissue sample going the needle route.

Steve, its not that fact that we are now going to have to do the needle biopsy. He never exposed the fact he couldn't get there by scope, when I spoke to him after the procedure! He said, "everything went well and he got some tissue samples of some other areas"!!

Leaving me and the wife to believe he got a biopsy of the nodule he went in to get, as well as some other things he didn't like the look of! If you were unable to get to it, that is fine but, don't wait till we have waited for the results to come back and then and only then tell me you couldn't get to the nodule!

First of all, if you are a trained Pulmonologist and you have preformed thousands of these procedures. And you can't tell from x-rays and MRI that the position of the nodule you are seeing is probably in a position your not going to reach it by scope. Then maybe you need to go back to school!

Second of all if you are unable to get to it when you expected to. Stand toe to toe with me and tell me, I was unable to get to the nodule! Don't make it look like you got there and as a Saint you also biopsied some other things you didn't like the looks of!!

That is the part that makes me the maddest!
We went to his office to get the results. He says well everything came back negative on the biopsies. However the nodule I went in to biopsy, I was unable to reach it with the scope!!! I realize nothing is a 100% when it comes to medicine but why is this information just now being offered up. The time to tell that was immediately after the procedure!! At least I would have known that we did not get to the one we went in for!!

You are correct in that the needle biopsy will be preformed by a specialist!!

Your 100% right Cliff, that was pretty unprofessional.

Well just when you think you got everything lined up,...………. it goes down the tubes. We were supposed to go this morning to see the expert on unexplained movement/neurologist, at USA. The wife got up with a head ache this morning but we were planning to go ahead and I could let her sleep on the nearly 2 hr. drive. So I don't trust my ole truck so I had a rental lined up. By the time I drove to the rental place and returned to my house, (about 15 minutes each way) she was so sick from the migraine. I decided to call and cancel everything! Once she gets sick she can't stand to be in a car riding! So we are rescheduled for the 30th of May! Hopefully everything will go right and maybe we can get some answers, about the seizures!!
Please continue to pray for her!!

First let me say thank you for all the good thoughts and prayers for my wife!! OK so here is where we are at! I fired the pulmonologist that we started out with and will explain this a bit more in a minute.

Our daughter works at the local Cancer Clinic and she hooked us up with an Oncologist that she trusts. She told me and my wife if I had to have someone he is the man!! We meant with him this week and she will go in for a pet scan Monday!
Why did we go to an Oncologist first? One because of the recommendation of our daughter! Two if it is a cancer then they will have to go in and do a needle biopsy! He will then decide how to proceed with treatment! However that will go before a cancer board, made of 29 doctors who work in all facets of cancer and its treatment!! They will all examine the information that they have at that point and they all make recommendations on how the best treatment is from that point forward!!
It is going to be a long time till Monday and then the following days till we get all the results of the pet scan. Please continue to pray for my dear wife!! I know she is scared but she is trying to put up a brave front!!

Oh, I thought the last straw with the pulmonologist was when he failed to tell us, till about 5 days later that he could not get to the nodule he went in for!!

The real kicker was at the time we were at the Cancer Clinic seeing the oncologist we discovered that the hospital she was in for a week after Easter had not sent the CT Scan that we asked them to send over. The oncologist said he wasn't sure where the nodule was located. I showed him on a picture of a set of lungs the location the pulmonologist had indicated to me on a picture he drew!

The oncologist told us that if the location was as I indicated the pulmonologist should have known he could not get it. He went on to say when they go in with a scope, they can look around at the area where the bronchial tube enters the lung and downward. The scope is not designed to turn upward. He went on to say in his career as a doctor he had never seen but one oncologist that was able to look or move upward! This doctor had specialized equipment that he had built out of his own pocket and he also had a special procedure to get to the upper part of the lung!!

If this follows out to be true, as too the location of the nodule, was in the upper part of her lung! Not only did the pulmonologist fail to tell us he could not get to the nodule! If the he was trained in what he was doing, he had to know he could not get to the nodule, before he went in! Soooooooooo, I can't say what is on my mind at this point or I would probably get banned!!

Please continue to say prayers for my wife! Her name is Kathy but, God already knows her and she knows him! Some days I feel like I am about to explode and some days..........

Hang in there Cliff. Doctor's can run the gamut from good to bad. Sounds like you have a good one now. Best of luck and prayers to both of you.
