Raw Hide sheath WIP

Hi, this is my first post and wanted to show you how to make my shaths.
With my poor English will try to answer any questions.

This sheath has a special flavor because it was made especially for someone whom I admire very much, Paul Long (an honor)

The leather sheath body is cow (rawhide) and the threads are sewn colt (raw hide), with an approximate width of 0.8 mm

Hope you like. ;)
Horacio

Horacio made this sheath for Paul Long. These are two of the finest sheathmakers in their selected fields that are on this planet------------

I have been waiting so long to see how this is done. I love this style of sheath(and knife) and, in my eyes, your work represents the epitome.

Thank you soooooo much for posting this.

That's the best stitching I have ever seen! I can't even imagine how full of pain and agony my eyes would be after trying to focus on thread that small. Wow.

Where can I get a hole punch like that?

I am speechless to thank so kind comments. Some time ago I make a draft of this style sheath for a hunter or a bowie. I hope to do it and share photos

Sandy my friend, your words are always very gentle. Thanks

VaughnT, I hope not misunderstand .... I use to mark the holes is a comb hair machine cut. Then I make the holes with an awl.

Horacio

Sorry by my english

Hola Horacio! Otro vez, Muchicimas gracias.

It is always a pleasure to see the the creation of my sheath and the braid work on the handle of the knife.

Pictured below is how it looks today. I just took it out of its display case a few moments ago for the photos below.

Horacio is a true artisan.

I believe Horacio is using a barber's electric clipper blade like this for marking:

Thanks Dacks, It's exactly that ;)

I will never again complain about hand sewing my sheaths.

I was skeptical of how the sheath would turn out from the first few pics.
Now I'm amazed:cool:
Its great skill and artistry to take a piece of leather like that and make a piece of art from it.
Thanks for sharing.

I just keep thinking "wow". Very impressive work indeed.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share the process with us.
