    Poor Man's surface grinder

    Ken, there are companies in Europe that make a swing arm surface grinder that works just like what you have here. The arm has heavy duty bearings in it and it swings just like a pantagraph. They use a cup style grinding stone/wheel. They are very accurate.

    You are doing the right thing by developing your own technique by using jigs and free hand. The knife shown with white handles is free hand ground and the knife with the dark handles was ground with a jig.

    303S stainless is a dream to work. It drills easy and cuts with bandsaw great. Pins do not show and it hand rubs great and is easy to polish.

    It just hit you the wrong way. A maker needs to send pictures so anyone can see. I still have flaws in my work shown to me. I have asked my wife not to do that but she keeps on doing it.
