I'm a stock removal guy... I just don't have room in my tiny little shop for all the stuff you hot-metal bangers need. So guess what I bought yesterday anyway?...

So I like to have random craigslist searches saved on my iphone; things like "surface grinder", "milling", "mig welder", "escort service"... and obviously "anvil". Mostly the "anvil" search nets me things like musical instrument cases and vintage Gregorian butter dishes, but yesterday something more interesting popped up.
I don't have the original photos that were posted with the ad, but I was immediately interested in what I saw. I called the seller ASAP, but he said that somebody was already coming to pick it up. Anyway, the other guy didn't show and I got a call later in the day. Here's a close-up of what caught my eye (the seller was unable to read it).
Now unless I'm mistaken, that top word is ?ETE? and the next word is ?RIGH?. I feel fairly comfortable translating it as PETER WRIGHT. I couldn't figure out the third word on my own, but have since figured out it says PATENT with the fourth word quite obviously being ENGLAND. There are some other characters here and there that I haven't interpreted, but it looks like the weight info is 1-1-23 which calculates to approximately 163#. The seller said it weighs in at 159#... so it seems like the right ballpark.
I'm pretty happy. Probably means I'll have to buy a house with a bigger shop now.

Edit: Price was about $1.53 per lb.
